Reminiscing summer – Whitstable

This week’s weather is dark and gloomy – pretty close to everyone’s mood after being in lock down for the past 3 months. I am going through all the food pictures (thousands!) and they reminded me of a beautiful summers day last year in Whitstable.

Whitstable is a beautiful, seaside town on the north coast of Kent – it is packed with charming pubs and seafood restaurants. It has a great vibe, beach even though rocky, it is full of happy families and jolly drinkers.

Right on the beach, there is a great restaurants called Lobster Shack – they serve (as name suggest) lobsters, fish and chips and a selection of seafood platters and drinks – the place has lots of outside tables but as the place does not take bookings, there is always long queue of hungry punters trying to get an empty spot. You may have to share the table with other people, but it is part of the fun!

If you are not a ‘sit in the sun and get red like a lobster’ type of person, as mentioned, there is loads of other lovely restaurants in Whitstable you can visit – one of the places I would definitely recommend is The Whitstable Oyster Company. Beautiful, quirky restaurant just off the beach, serving the most delicious seafood dished and fantastic selection of cocktails, including oyster shooters Bloody Mary’s (YUM!)

Last but definitely by no means the least a must visit place is The Neptunes – funky pub situated on the beach (yes, on the beach!) with live music, great drinks and a lot of summer mischief! From there, with a nice glass of wine you can witness the most beautiful sunset.
