Salon – Brixton

I love exploring new bars and restaurant, it gives me this first date butterflies feeling in my belly! One of the blessings and also the curse of living in London is that there are thousands of places you can go to, the question is what to choose? I heard about Salon before, but only when I saw it on Masterchef UK, I thought I must try it.

Salon in Brixton market started as a market pop us but quickly turned into a solid restaurant. The menu is modern British and changes depending on what produce is available to them – this can be weekly, monthly or seasonly. The menu is set and you have couple of mains to select between, there are also some bar snacks you can enjoy while waiting for your table.

The wine selection is INSANE! I am by no means a wine expert but the waiters’ and bartenders’ knowledge in wine is exceptional.

For our dinner, we opted for couple of cocktails at the bar with a few snacky bits and wine pairing with the courses. The food comes in FAST and I mean it is quite a crazy speed – you sit where you can see the kitchen and these guys do not stop for a second. For a very small restaurant (only few tables in the dinning room and a couple downstairs in the bar) the buzz is like a fully packed concert hall. There is always someone running around and the conversations and laughter are loud. Even though with all the madness around, the restaurant and the bar have a nice, warm and cosy feeling, perfect for a cheeky date.
