Dordogne

I love spontaneous trips, but nothing was as spontaneous as booking 2 weeks trip to France on Saturday night to fly on Sunday morning! Even I cannot pack in such speed!

We have flown to beautiful Bordeaux and started our French adventure in beautiful Dordogne. Driving through stunning countryside and vineyards, I was falling in love with the surroundings with every village we passed. The promise of a hot weather, delocious cuisine and local wines were making us very hungry and excited.

We settled in a beautiful, tiny village of Chevral, in a chateau surrounded by cornfields. The views were just breath taking and the presence of 2 ponies and 18 sheep we could feed every misty morning was a tremendous fun!

I also became weirdly obsessed with corn fields.

Very shortly it turned out that most of the bars and restaurants nearby were already closed for winter so finding any open places to eat was a real challenge as we also had no access to the kitchen (all the amazing market produce). We had to travel often and far but the places we found were just incredible – the amount of foie gras, cheese and duck confit we consumed was enough to make me wish for a fresh salad. Though long walks through the fields quickly made up for the over eating and kept up semi active.

But after a week of lazying around in a cosy jumper it was time to move to Bordeaux for the next leg of our trip.
