I was gone but I am back now! Last few months been a crazy rollercoaster of all things nice, not so nice, pretty bad and amazing! But I am back now and thankfully with some amazing things! Yesterday I had a pleasure to take a part in a culinary presentation at Le Cordon Bleu London which was pretty exciting, I mean I love food, I live to eat so to visit one of the best culinary / wine / hospitality institution in the word was truly amazing. I felt like a little kid left unattended in a sweets shop with a puppy.
Yesterday’s special guest was Allan Pickett of the Piquet restaurant in London. Allan train in a number of Roux restaurants, including Le Gavroche and worked in Michelin star restaurants such as Orrery, L’Escargot and Chez Nico. Taking a seat in the first row as a good student I am I had a pleasure of observing master at work closely. Allan prepared for us marinated sea scallops, avocado puree, apple and cucumber, and line caught seabass with asparagus and citrus sauce vierge. I must say I was pretty starved by the time the presentation finished and I was tempted to go to Piquet straight away (though wine won and I had couple of glasses in a local pub with my friend).
It was a really good fun to see professional chef cooking with such care and bags of experience. And it will definitely take me few years before I can fillet a fish as efficiently as Allan.
